Fried Calamari Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
Prepare the Calamari
In a large bowl, combine calamari, buttermilk, and beaten egg. Mix well and let it marinate for about 30 minutes.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
Coat the Calamari
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk mixture and let excess liquid drip off. Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until evenly coated.
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Serve
Serve hot with lemon wedges and garnish with fresh parsley.
