Tuna and Salad

Crispy Wontons

Method

Preparation of Tuna and Salad

  1. 1

    Sear the Ahi Tuna

Heat a non-stick skillet over high heat. Season the Ahi tuna steak with salt and pepper. Once the skillet is hot, sear the tuna for 1-2 minutes on each side for a rare finish. Remove from heat and let it rest before slicing.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Salad Base

Wash and chop the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces. In a large bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce and seaweed salad. Toss gently to mix.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh out. Slice the avocado into thin wedges.

Crispy Wontons

  1. 4

    Fry the Wontons

In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Cut the wonton wrappers into triangles. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the wonton triangles in batches and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Tuna Tower

On a plate, create a bed of the romaine and seaweed salad mixture. Slice the seared Ahi tuna into thin strips and arrange them around the salad. Place the avocado slices on top of the salad. Add the crispy wontons on the side or on top of the salad for crunch.

  2. 6

    Garnish

Garnish the dish with diced papaya, a drizzle of pina colada sauce, and sweet soy sauce over the tuna and salad for a touch of sweetness.
