Method

Prepare the Salad Base

  1. 1

    Wash and Chop the Greens

Thoroughly wash the Romaine lettuce and mixed greens under cold water. Pat dry with a clean towel. Chop the Romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place in a large salad bowl. Add mixed greens.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables

Halve the cherry tomatoes and add to the salad bowl. Peel the cucumber, slice it in half lengthwise, and then slice it into half-moons. Add to the bowl. Peel and thinly slice the red onion, adding it to the salad.

Make the Croutons

  1. 3

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread into bite-sized cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 4

    Season the Croutons

Drizzle the olive oil over the bread cubes. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper over the top. Toss well to evenly coat the bread.

  3. 5

    Bake the Croutons

Spread the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp, stirring halfway through.

Assemble the Salad

  1. 6

    Combine and Serve

Once the croutons are ready, add them to the salad bowl with the greens and vegetables. Drizzle your choice of dressing over the top. Toss the salad gently to combine all ingredients. Serve immediately.
