Method

Preparing the Crabby Patty

  1. 1

    Form the Patty

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form into a half-pound patty, making a slight indentation in the center to prevent puffing while cooking.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patty

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the formed patty and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for medium doneness.

Making the Crab Dip

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, and green onions (if using). Mix until well blended and creamy.

Assembling the Crabby Patty

  1. 4

    Melt the Cheese

During the last minute of cooking the patty, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty and cover the skillet with a lid to melt the cheese.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Bun

Toast the burger bun lightly until golden brown.

  3. 6

    Assemble the Burger

Spread a generous amount of crab dip on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Place the melted cheese patty on top. Add lettuce, a slice of tomato, and then top with a thick-cut onion ring. Close with the top half of the bun.
