Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Crab Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, cream cheese, chopped green onions, egg, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- 2
Form the Balls
Using your hands, take small portions of the crab mixture and shape them into balls about 1 inch in diameter. Place the formed balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cooking
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of the crab mixture into it; if it sizzles, the oil is ready.
- 4
Fry the Crab Balls
Carefully add the crab balls to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to remove the crab balls from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
