Method
Meatball Preparation
- 1
Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- 2
Form Meatballs
Shape the mixture into 12 meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- 3
Cook Meatballs
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a bit of oil. Cook the meatballs for about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 160°F (70°C).
Assemble the Burger
- 4
Prepare Marinara Sauce
In a small saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over low heat until warmed through.
- 5
Toast Buns
Meanwhile, cut the potato buns in half and toast them lightly on a skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.
- 6
Smash Meatballs
Once the meatballs are cooked, place them on a clean surface and gently smash each meatball with a spatula to flatten them slightly.
- 7
Add Sauce and Cheese
Place the smashed meatballs on the toasted buns. Spoon warm marinara sauce over each meatball, then top with shredded mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of grated Parmigiano-Reggiano.
- 8
Finish with Peppers
Add spicy pickled peppers on top of the cheese, then place the top half of the bun over each assembled burger.
