Meatballs

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sourdough breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.

Red Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are cooked, gently add them to the simmering red sauce. Let them cook together for an additional 5 minutes.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley and additional grated Parmesan cheese. Enjoy with extra sourdough on the side!
