Waffle Fries

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prep the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into waffle shapes using a waffle fry cutter or a knife. Rinse the cut fries in cold water to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to help them become crispier when fried.

  3. 3

    Dry the Fries

Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Waffle Fries

Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Season the Fries

While the fries are still hot, season them with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste.
