Onion Rings
Method
Onion Rings
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold water until smooth.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, letting excess batter drip off.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain. Serve hot.
