Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. Add the olive oil, salt, and flour gradually, mixing until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out one portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 5
Assemble the Pizza
Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread half of the tomato sauce onto the dough, then sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese. Add desired toppings such as pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, and olives. Sprinkle with dried oregano.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot.
