Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Chicken

In a medium pot, add the chicken breasts and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked. Remove from heat and let cool.

  2. 2

    Shred the Chicken

Once the chicken has cooled, use two forks to shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces. Place the shredded chicken in a mixing bowl.

  3. 3

    Season the Chicken

Add the cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the shredded chicken. Mix well to ensure the chicken is evenly coated with the spices.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Flautas

Take a tortilla and place a small amount of the seasoned shredded chicken and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese towards one edge of the tortilla. Roll the tortilla tightly around the filling and secure with a toothpick if needed. Repeat with remaining tortillas.

  5. 5

    Fry the Flautas

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the rolled flautas into the skillet, seam side down. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  6. 6

    Serve

Arrange the flautas on a platter and serve with sour cream, chopped cilantro, and lime wedges on the side.
