Filling Preparation

1

Prepare the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded chicken, refried beans, shredded cheese, chopped onion, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Flauta Assembly

2

Assemble the Flautas

Heat a small amount of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Warm the corn tortillas one at a time until soft and pliable (about 30 seconds per side). Remove from heat and place about 2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each tortilla. Roll them tightly to form cylindrical shapes.

3

Secure the Flautas

Use toothpicks to secure the ends of the rolled tortillas, if necessary, to prevent them from unrolling.

Frying

4

Heat the Oil

In a large deep skillet or pot, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

5

Fry the Flautas

Carefully place the assembled flautas into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Use tongs to turn them as needed.

6

Drain the Flautas

Once golden, remove the flautas from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

7

Serve and Enjoy

Arrange the flautas on a serving platter and garnish with sour cream, salsa, chopped cilantro, and sliced jalapeños. Serve warm and enjoy!
