Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the Roux

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly until it turns a light golden color.

  2. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

  3. 4

    Add Cheeses

Reduce heat to low and add the cheddar cheese and cream cheese. Stir until fully melted and combined. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.

Combine Ingredients

  1. 5

    Mix Pasta and Sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce. If making Lobster Mac, fold in the chopped lobster meat gently.

Bread Crumb Topping Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Topping

In a small bowl, mix together the panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, and melted butter until combined.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the Mac & Cheese

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the macaroni and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the breadcrumb topping over the macaroni. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
