Prepare Coffee Mixture

Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If using, mix in 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur.
Prepare Mascarpone Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of sugar until thick and pale.

Add Mascarpone and Vanilla
Gently fold in 500g of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

Whip Heavy Cream
In another bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
Assemble Tiramisu

Soak Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer Tiramisu
In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chill and Serve

Chill Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to set.

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle with shaved or grated dark chocolate.
