Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub both sides of the ribeye steaks with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh thyme.

  2. 2

    Grill the Steak

Preheat a grill to high heat. Once hot, place the steaks on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is achieved.

  3. 3

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.

Preparing the French Fries

  1. 4

    Cut the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.

  2. 5

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a paper towel. Carefully add the potatoes to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.

  5. 8

    Drain and Season

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt while still hot.
