Method

Lasagna Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, sauté until softened. Add ground beef and ground pork, cook until browned. Stir in oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Pour in 2 cups of marinara sauce and simmer for 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Mix Ricotta Filling

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.

  4. 4

    Layer the Lasagna

Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer 3 noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, half of the meat sauce, and a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat with another layer. Finish with a final layer of noodles, remaining sauce, and the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.

  5. 5

    Bake the Lasagna

Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Meatball Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Meatballs

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into meatballs.

  2. 7

    Cook the Meatballs

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 10-15 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Sunday Gravy Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare the Gravy

In the same skillet, add olive oil. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Pour in white wine and beef broth, simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in marinara sauce, season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for another 10 minutes.

Assembly and Serving

  1. 9

    Combine and Serve

Place cooked meatballs in the gravy to soak up flavor. Serve lasagna with meatballs on top, drizzled with the Sunday gravy.
