Burger and Toppings

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently and divide into four equal portions (about 3 oz each).

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Shape each portion into a round patty, making a slight indentation in the center to prevent puffing while cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, split the hamburger buns and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Place the cooked patties on the bottom half of the toasted buns. Top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, and mustard as desired. Cover with the top half of the buns.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the burgers with a side of your choice, like fries or carrot sticks.
