Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Cook the Protein
In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once heated, add 1 pound of ground beef or shredded chicken to the skillet. Season with 1 packet of taco seasoning, and cook until the meat is browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. If using chicken, ensure it is fully shredded and heated.
- 2
Prepare Tortilla Shells
While the meat is cooking, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place 4 tortilla shells on a baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes or until they are crispy and slightly golden.
- 3
Assemble the Salad
Once the meat is cooked and the tortilla shells are crispy, start assembling the salad. Place a crispy tortilla shell on a plate and fill it with 2 cups of chopped lettuce. Top with 1 cup of diced tomatoes, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, and the cooked meat.
- 4
Add Toppings
Finish the salad by adding 1 cup of guacamole and 1 cup of sour cream on top. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 5
Serve
Serve immediately while the tortilla shell is warm and crispy. Enjoy your delicious taco salad!
