Method
Prepare the Protein
- 1
Cook the Chicken
In a skillet over medium heat, add a bit of oil and cook the chicken breast until fully cooked, about 6-7 minutes per side. Remove from heat, let cool, then shred.
- 2
Cook the Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
- 3
Cook the Pork
In a slow cooker, place the pork shoulder and cook on low for 6-8 hours until tender. Shred the pork with a fork once cooked.
Prepare the Taco Seasoning
- 4
Mix the Spices
In a small bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
- 5
Season the Protein
Once the protein is cooked, add the taco seasoning to the protein you are using, along with 1/4 cup of water. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Assemble the Tacos
- 6
Warm the Tortillas
In a dry skillet, warm each corn tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
- 7
Build the Taco
Layer the protein of choice onto each tortilla. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and sliced jalapeños to taste.
- 8
Serve
Serve immediately while warm, with additional toppings available on the side.
