Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove the saucepan from heat. Quickly add 1 cup of all-purpose flour and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs and Vanilla

Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix well until fully incorporated and the dough is smooth.

Frying Churros

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a deep pot or frying pan, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough into the hot oil.

  3. 6

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros in batches for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 7

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve with Ice Cream

Place the coated churros on a serving plate and serve with 2 scoops of your favorite ice cream on the side.
