Huarache Ingredients

Method

Huarache Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine masa harina and salt. Gradually add water, mixing until a smooth dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add more water, a tablespoon at a time.

  2. 2

    Shape the Huaraches

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a log shape, then flatten it into an oval shape about 1/2 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Huaraches

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook each huarache for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Huaraches

Spread a layer of mashed black beans over each cooked huarache. Top with cooked meat, crumbled queso fresco, and a drizzle of sour cream.

  5. 5

    Add Fresh Toppings

Finish with salsa, chopped cilantro, sliced avocado, and any additional toppings of your choice.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve warm and enjoy your homemade huaraches!
