Ingredients
For the juice (per 1 liter / 4 cups)
Tools & optional additions
For orange juice (method)
1. Prepare oranges
Wash the oranges under cold water, then cut each orange in half crosswise.
2. Juice
Use an electric citrus juicer or manual reamer to extract juice from the orange halves into a pitcher until you have about 1 liter (4 cups) of juice. If you prefer pulp-free juice, press the extracted juice through a fine mesh sieve into the serving pitcher, discarding solids.
3. Adjust sweetness and acidity
Taste the juice. If it needs sweetness, stir in up to 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey until dissolved. If it tastes flat, add 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice and stir.
4. Dilute and chill
If the juice is very strong, stir in up to 1 cup cold water to adjust intensity. Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes to chill, or serve over ice cubes.
5. Serve
Pour into glasses over ice, garnish with mint leaves if desired, and serve immediately.
For apple juice (method)
6. Prepare apples
Wash apples thoroughly. Core and cut into quarters. Peeling is optional — leave skin on for more fiber and flavor, or peel for a clearer juice.
7. Blend or press
If you have a juicer: run apple pieces through the juicer until you have about 1 liter (4 cups) of juice. If using a blender: place apple pieces in the blender with 1 cup cold water and blend on high until smooth (30–60 seconds).
8. Strain (for clear juice)
For blended apples, pour the puree through a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag over a bowl or pitcher. Press or squeeze to extract as much juice as possible, leaving pulp behind.
9. Adjust sweetness and acidity
Taste the apple juice. If it needs additional sweetness, stir in up to 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or honey. If it tastes flat, add 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
10. Chill and serve
Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes or serve over ice. Garnish with mint if desired and serve immediately.
Notes and storage
11. Use the juice within 48 hours for best flavor and freshness; store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Fresh-squeezed juices separate naturally — shake or stir before serving.
