Base

Method

Prepare the Base

  1. 1

    Rinse the Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed sushi rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for an additional 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked rice using a wooden spatula. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 4

    Prepare the Tuna

Cut the fresh tuna into small, bite-sized cubes. If desired, marinate the tuna in soy sauce for 10-15 minutes.

  2. 5

    Slice the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Slice the avocado into thin, even pieces.

  3. 6

    Prepare Green Onions

Wash and slice the green onions into thin rounds.

Assemble the Poke Bowl

  1. 7

    Layer the Ingredients

In a bowl, start with a generous scoop of the seasoned sushi rice as the base.

  2. 8

    Add Toppings

Top the rice with cubes of fresh tuna, sliced avocado, and a serving of seaweed salad. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side. Enjoy your fresh poke bowl!
