Cake Preparation
- 1
Melt Chocolate and Butter
Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a double boiler or in the microwave until smooth. Stir occasionally to ensure they do not burn.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
- 3
Whisk Eggs
In another bowl, whisk the large eggs and egg yolks until they are light and frothy. Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.
- 4
- 5
Prepare Ramekins
Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder to prevent sticking. Place them on a baking tray.
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft. The tops should look set.
- 8
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let the cakes sit for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate to release the cake. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
