Method

Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar, minced garlic, and black pepper. Add the pork loin, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated pork and cook for about 6-8 minutes on each side until fully cooked and slightly caramelized. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly.

Pickling Vegetables

  1. 3

    Prepare the Pickling Solution

In a saucepan, combine white vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat.

  2. 4

    Pickle the Vegetables

Place the julienned carrot and daikon radish in a jar or bowl. Pour the warm pickling solution over the vegetables, ensuring they are fully submerged. Let them sit for at least 30 minutes to pickle.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Prepare the Baguette

Slice the baguette lengthwise, leaving one side intact to create a hinge.

  2. 6

    Spread Mayonnaise

Spread mayonnaise on the inside of the baguette.

  3. 7

    Add Pork and Vegetables

Layer the sliced pork on the bottom half of the baguette. Top with pickled vegetables, cilantro leaves, and sliced jalapeños (if using).

  4. 8

    Close and Serve

Close the baguette, slice into portions, and serve immediately.
