PIZZA CRUST
PIZZA TOPPING
Method
PIZZA CRUST
- 1
Prepare the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough starts to form.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
PIZZA ASSEMBLY
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it is hot enough for baking the pizza.
- 6
Prepare the Pizza Base
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- 7
Add the Sauce
Spread the puttanesca sauce evenly over the rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 8
Layer the Toppings
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add the cooked and crumbled Italian sausage, and finally the sliced jalapeños.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the pizza to a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
- 10
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, sprinkle fresh basil leaves on top, slice, and serve hot.
