Fill a copper mug or glass with ice cubes until it is nearly full.

Pour 1 oz of Smirnoff vodka over the ice in the mug.

Cut the fresh lime in half. Squeeze the juice of one half over the vodka and ice, ensuring to catch any seeds. Reserve the other half for garnish.

Pour 4 oz of ginger beer into the mug over the vodka and lime juice, filling the mug to the top.
