Garnish & Rim

Preparation

Prep & Rim

1. Prepare glass

Chill a rocks or coupe glass briefly (place in freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while prepping).

2. Salt the rim

Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of the chilled glass. Spread the black salt thinly on a small plate and gently press the rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.

Mixing

3. Combine ingredients

Add Don Julio Blanco tequila (1.5 oz), dry curaçao (0.5 oz), fresh lime juice (0.75 oz), agave syrup (0.25 oz), and 2 dashes of chili bitters into a cocktail shaker.

4. Add ice & shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup), seal, and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until very cold and slightly diluted.

5. Strain

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass using a fine strainer or Hawthorne strainer to remove tiny ice shards.

Garnish & Finish

6. Garnish

Express a lime peel or squeeze a small wedge over the drink to release oils, then drop the wedge into the cocktail or rest it on the rim. Optionally float a thin dried chili or a lime wheel on top for contrast.

7. Serve

Serve immediately. Recommend tasting and, if desired, adjust future pours of agave by ±0.125 oz to balance sweetness to preference.
