Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix the Batter

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is pale and fluffy. Slowly fold in the melted chocolate mixture until combined. Gently sift in the flour and fold until just combined.

  3. 3

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease four ramekins with butter and dust lightly with flour, shaking off any excess. This helps the fondant to release easily after baking.

  4. 4

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  5. 5

    Bake

Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center remains soft.

  6. 6

    Serve

Remove the fondants from the oven and let them sit for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
