Mussels
White Wine Sauce
Method
Preparation of Mussels
- 1
Clean the Mussels
Rinse the fresh mussels under cold running water to remove any sand or debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.
- 2
Steam the Mussels
In a large pot, combine the cleaned mussels with a little water and cover them. Steam the mussels over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes or until they open up. Remove from heat and set aside.
Preparing the White Wine Sauce
- 3
Sauté Garlic
In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- 4
Add Wine and Seasoning
Pour in the dry white wine and bring to a simmer. Add salt and black pepper to taste. Allow the sauce to reduce for about 5 minutes.
- 5
Add Fresh Parsley
Chop the fresh parsley and add it to the wine sauce. Stir well to combine.
- 6
Combine Mussels and Sauce
Add the steamed mussels into the skillet with the white wine sauce. Toss gently to ensure all mussels are coated in the sauce.
- 7
Cook Mussels in Sauce
Cover the skillet and let the mussels cook in the sauce for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing them to absorb the flavors.
