Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Start by gathering all your ingredients. If using jarred roasted red peppers, drain them well. If using fresh, roast them until the skin is charred, then peel off the skin and remove seeds.

  2. 2

    Toast the Walnuts

In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the walnuts for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are fragrant and golden brown. Stir frequently to avoid burning. Once done, let them cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Prepare Garlic

Peel the garlic cloves and chop them finely. You can also use a garlic press for a finer texture.

Blending

  1. 4

    Blend the Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the roasted red peppers, toasted walnuts, garlic, pomegranate seeds, breadcrumbs, olive oil, lemon juice, cumin powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 5

    Process Until Smooth

Pulse the mixture until it reaches a smooth, creamy consistency. You can add a little more olive oil or lemon juice if the mixture is too thick.

Serving

  1. 6

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the muhammara and adjust the seasoning with more salt, black pepper, or lemon juice as needed.

  2. 7

    Serve

Transfer the muhammara to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little extra olive oil on top and garnish with additional pomegranate seeds or chopped walnuts if desired. Serve with pita bread or fresh vegetables.
