Fried Kalamari
Walnut Tartar Sauce
Method
Fried Kalamari
- 1
Prepare the Squid
Rinse the cleaned squid under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Slice the squid into rings about 1/2 inch thick.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the dry ingredients.
- 3
- 4
Coat the Squid
Dip each squid ring into the egg wash, allowing excess to drip off. Then, dredge it in the flour mixture, ensuring it’s fully coated. Set aside on a plate.
- 5
- 6
Fry the Squid
Carefully add the coated squid rings to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot with the walnut tartar sauce on the side.
