Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Mix the ingredients until well combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

In the same skillet, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Sauce

Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 7

    Add Meatballs to Sauce

Carefully add the browned meatballs back into the sauce, cover, and let simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

Spaghetti

  1. 8

    Cook the Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 9

    Combine Everything

Serve the spaghetti topped with the meatballs and marinara sauce. Garnish with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley if desired.
