Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Roast
Take the prime rib roast out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly.
- 2
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 3
Season the Meat
In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib roast, then drizzle with olive oil and rub it in.
- 4
Roast the Prime Rib
Place the seasoned roast on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- 5
Lower the Temperature
After 20 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare).
- 6
Rest the Meat
Remove the roast from the oven and tent it with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
- 7
Slice and Serve
Slice the prime rib into thick slices and serve with your choice of sides.
