Cocktail

Optional (for stirring glass or richer texture)

Method

Prep

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass (or an Old Fashioned glass if preferred) into the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you mix the cocktail.

2

If using a stirring glass, make sure it is clean and large enough to hold ingredients and ice comfortably.

Mixing

3

Combine ingredients

Add the rye whiskey, Braulio amaro, sweet vermouth, orange bitters and Angostura bitters into a mixing glass or large cocktail shaker.

4

Add optional sweetness

If you prefer a slightly softer, rounder profile, add the 1/4 tsp simple syrup to the mixing glass. This is optional; Braulio has herbal sweetness and may not require extra sugar.

5

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with ice (about 6 large cubes). Stir gently but steadily for 30–45 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until the mixture is well chilled, slightly diluted, and the outside of the mixing glass is very cold.

Finish & Serve

6

Strain

Discard the ice or water from the chilled serving glass. Double-strain the chilled cocktail from the mixing glass into the chilled coupe or Old Fashioned glass using a julep strainer and a fine mesh strainer (optional) to catch any small shards of ice.

7

Garnish

Express an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the glass and giving it a sharp fold to release oils. Run the twist around the rim if desired, then drop it into the cocktail as garnish.

8

Serve immediately. The Braulio lends an herbal, slightly minty and alpine bitter profile that pairs well with rye's spice and the rounding sweetness of vermouth.
