Base Electrolyte Solution
Lemon Flavor & Acidity
Optional Enhancers
Method
Base Electrolyte Solution
- 1
Warm water and dissolve salts
If using cooler water, warm 200 ml of the 1 l slightly (to about 35–40°C / warm to the touch) to help dissolve salt and baking soda more easily. Add 1 tsp sea salt and 1 tsp baking soda to the warmed water and stir until fully dissolved (about 30–60 seconds).
- 2
Combine dissolved salts with remaining cold water. Pour the dissolved salt/soda mixture into a 1-liter container or pitcher. Add the remaining ~800 ml of filtered or spring water and stir to combine. This gives a balanced sodium and bicarbonate base for rehydration.
- 3
Lemon Flavor & Acidity
- 4
Juice the lemon and add zest. Roll a fresh lemon on the counter to loosen juices, zest 1 tsp finely, then cut and juice to yield approximately 60 ml (about 1 large lemon). Strain seeds and add the fresh lemon juice and zest to the prepared electrolyte base.

Optional Enhancers
- 6
Prepare ginger and mint (optional). If using ginger, grate about 1 tsp fresh ginger and steep it in ~50 ml hot water for 5 minutes, then strain and cool, adding the infusion to the drink for gentle bite. If using mint, bruise the 4 leaves lightly and add to the pitcher for aroma; remove after 10–15 minutes if you prefer a subtler note.
- 7
Combine and chill. Stir all components well, then refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors. Serve cold over ice for best rehydrating and refreshing effect.
- 8
Storage and usage. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Shake or stir before serving. Use within 24–48 hours for best flavor and freshness.
