Method
Banana Bread Pudding
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2
Prepare the Bread
Cut the stale banana bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 3
Mix the Custard
In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas and add milk, heavy cream, milk chocolate chips, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, eggs, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
- 4
Combine Bread and Custard
Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and gently stir to coat the bread evenly. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to soak up the custard.
- 5
Bake the Pudding
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and spread it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Chocolate & Caramel Sauce
- 6
Make the Chocolate Sauce
In a saucepan, combine the milk chocolate chips and heavy cream over low heat. Stir continuously until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- 7
Prepare the Caramel Sauce
If using store-bought caramel sauce, simply warm it slightly in the microwave or on the stove, stirring until smooth.
To Serve
- 8
Plate the Dish
Once the banana bread pudding is baked, allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
- 9
Drizzle Sauces
Drizzle the warm chocolate sauce and caramel sauce over the pudding and ice cream before serving.
