Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour.
- 3
Prepare the Toppings
While the dough is rising, slice the fresh tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. Set aside.
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475°F or 245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 5
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer to a pizza peel or baking sheet.
- 6
Add Toppings
Spread the sliced tomatoes evenly over the dough. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them on top. Sprinkle with salt and drizzle with olive oil.
- 7
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
- 8
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, scatter fresh basil leaves on top, and let it cool for a minute before slicing. Serve hot.
