Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 tsp of salt. Once boiling, add 2 cups of elbow macaroni and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually around 7-8 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cheese Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, whisk in 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to form a roux.

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Slowly pour in 2 cups of milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese and Spices

Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, 1 tsp of garlic powder, 1 tsp of onion powder, 1 tsp of paprika, and 1 tsp of black pepper. Mix until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Pasta and Cheese Sauce

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated with the cheese sauce. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a splash of milk to reach your desired consistency.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the mac 'n' cheez warm, garnished with extra cheese or paprika if desired.
