Potato Mixture

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cube the Russet potatoes. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mash the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cool enough to handle, mash them in a large bowl until smooth. Make sure there are no lumps.

  3. 3

    Mix Ingredients

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, and the egg to the mashed potatoes. Mix until well combined.

Forming Tater Tots

  1. 4

    Shape the Mixture

Using your hands, form the potato mixture into small logs or oval shapes, about 1 inch long. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Fry the Tater Tots

Carefully add the tater tots to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 7

    Drain the Tater Tots

Using a slotted spoon, remove the tater tots from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve Hot

Serve the tater tots hot with ketchup and ranch dressing on the side for dipping.
