Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 2
Add water and vegetable oil to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- 4
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- 5
Cook the Filling
In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.
- 6
Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- 7
Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 8
Add the ground beef or lamb, cooking until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes.
- 9
Assembly and Cooking
- 10
Assemble the Sambusa
Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll out each portion into a thin circle (about 1/8 inch thick).
- 11
Cut each circle in half to create two semi-circles.
- 12
Take one semi-circle, and fold it into a cone shape. Seal the edge with a little water.
- 13
Fill the cone with a spoonful of the filling, then seal the open edge with water, pinching to ensure it's tightly sealed.
- 14
Repeat with the second semi-circle.
- 15
Fry the Sambusa
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- 16
Fry the sambusas in batches, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- 17
Remove sambusas from oil and drain on paper towels.
- 18
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
