Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- 3
Cut in Butter
Add the cold unsalted butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Making the Biscuits
- 4
Add Buttermilk
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently with a spatula until just combined; do not overmix.
- 5
Shape the Dough
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Gently knead the dough 4-5 times until it holds together, then pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick.
- 6
Cut the Biscuits
Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Gather any scraps, knead gently, and cut out additional biscuits.
Baking
- 7
Bake the Biscuits
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- 8
Cool Slightly
Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Serving
- 9
Serve with Hot Honey
Serve the warm biscuits with Lou's Hot Honey drizzled over the top, to taste.
