Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the New York strip steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This will help it cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Rub both sides with olive oil, then generously season with salt and black pepper. If using, add minced garlic and chopped rosemary on both sides.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan or Grill

Preheat a cast-iron skillet or grill over medium-high heat until hot. If using a skillet, you can add a little more olive oil.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the steak on the hot skillet or grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time according to your preferred doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  6. 6

    Slice and Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly cooked New York strip!
