Method
Preparing the Meatballs
- 1
Mix the Meatball Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, Italian breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, minced garlic, eggs, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Using your hands, take a portion of the mixture and flatten it in your palm. Place a small amount of diced fresh mozzarella and Asiago cheese in the center, then fold the meat around the cheese and roll into a ball. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
Cooking the Meatballs
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- 4
Brown the Meatballs
Once the oil is hot, carefully add the meatballs to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until they are browned on all sides.
- 5
Add Marinara Sauce
Pour the marinara sauce over the browned meatballs, ensuring they are well coated. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let simmer for about 20 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.
