Fudge Ingredients

Method

Fudge Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Fudge Ingredients

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, unsalted butter, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.

  2. 2

    Add Vanilla

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract until evenly blended.

  3. 3

    Set Aside

Pour the fudge mixture into a greased 8x8 inch baking dish and spread it evenly. Let it sit at room temperature while you prepare the brownie batter.

Brownie Preparation

  1. 4

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. 5

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a large bowl, melt the unsalted butter in the microwave or on the stove. Once melted, add the granulated sugar and stir until well combined.

  3. 6

    Incorporate the Eggs

Add the large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 7

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  5. 8

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 9

    Layer the Brownie Batter

Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly over the bottom. Then, pour the fudge layer on top of the brownie batter.

  7. 10

    Top with Remaining Batter

Spoon the remaining brownie batter on top of the fudge layer, spreading it gently to cover.

  8. 11

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  9. 12

    Cool and Serve

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
