Filling and Wrapping
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and bacon bits. Stir until well mixed.
- 2
Prepare the Jalapenos
Slice the jalapenos in half lengthwise and remove the seeds for less heat. If you prefer spicier poppers, leave some seeds.
- 3
Stuff the Jalapenos
Spoon the cream cheese mixture into each jalapeno half. Place the stuffed jalapenos onto a plate.
- 4
Wrap the Jalapenos
Take a wonton wrapper and place a stuffed jalapeno half in the center. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper over the jalapeno, and seal tightly. Repeat with remaining jalapenos.
- 5
Fry the Poppers
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the wrapped jalapeno poppers in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the poppers with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
