Making the Dough

Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.

Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, then add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough starts to form.

On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Shape the Knots
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 8 inches long and tie it into a knot.
