Chop the Tomatoes
Wash the ripe tomatoes, remove the stems, and dice them into small pieces. Place them in a mixing bowl.

Add Garlic and Basil
Peel and mince the garlic cloves, then add them to the bowl with the diced tomatoes. Chop the fresh basil leaves and add them as well.

Mix Additional Ingredients
Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the tomato mixture. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Gently toss everything together until well combined. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
Preparing the Bread

Slice the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.

Toast the Bread
Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil. Toast in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
Assembling the Bruschetta

Top the Toasts
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven. Spoon the tomato mixture generously over each slice of toasted bread.
