Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Pork

In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Rub this spice mix all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it's evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Slow Cooker

Place the seasoned pork shoulder into the slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar over the meat, which will help to tenderize it during cooking.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Slow Cook the Pork

Cover the slow cooker and set it to low heat. Cook the pork shoulder for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is fork-tender and easily pulls apart.

  2. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Let it rest for about 15 minutes, then use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.

  3. 5

    Mix with BBQ Sauce

In a large bowl, combine the shredded pork with the BBQ sauce, mixing well to coat the meat evenly.

Serving

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

If using, slice the buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.

  2. 7

    Serve the Pulled Pork

Spoon the pulled pork mixture onto the buns and top with coleslaw if using. Serve immediately and enjoy!
