Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This allows for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye with kosher salt and black pepper. Press the seasoning into the meat.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large cast-iron skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Make sure the pan is very hot.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Place the ribeye steak in the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving it, until a golden-brown crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Aromatics

Flip the steak using tongs. Add the garlic cloves and rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.

  6. 6

    Baste the Steak

Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the steak with the pan juices for added flavor.

  7. 7

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Aim for 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

  8. 8

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 10 minutes before slicing.

  9. 9

    Slice and Serve

Slice against the grain and serve with your choice of sides.
